I have always wanted an answer from teachers about this one. All through the school year, the students have to read a lot of stuff that they really have no interest in. Then when summer comes, they get bogged down having to read multiple books, again, that they have no interest in. So, when are they supposed to actually start to LIKE reading, if they never have time to read what they like?

I am looking for a good calendar for my wife and I and our son. I want a seperate calendar for kids.

can the constant reading of stories to toddlers actually stop them from wanting to read books

I found starfall and it helped my son more than the computer pay sites for reading.

Why do you think your children need reading lessons? Are they very behind? If not then it would be much better to do fun things with them that help their reading.
1) Read to them every day. I don’t know their ages but if they are over 5 read a bit of a story every night.
2) Play games like I Spy, Monopoly, Cluedo etc.
3) Let them play computer games that help with reading. Two really good sites are bbc.co.uk and click on Education. And www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Games
4) Print off stuff for them to make little books etc. Enchanted Learning on the web are good.
But MAKE IT FUN.

I am not from Atlanta, however, I have an idea. What about local Domestic Violence Agencies. They many times are non profit organizations. and work off of state grants and donations. They service women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The women and children many times leave with the clothes on their backs. A book with be a great comfort to a child who has just had their world torn apart, and a great interactive tool for the mother to read to or with the child. Giving them some much needed closeness. Just a thought. Good luck and God bless.

I live in the UK and my mum private tutors but i assume it’s the same there. She charges £20 (aprox. 40 USD) an hour.

why would you want to??????

Magic is practiced and believed by Wiccans, Noah’s flood is believed by Christians…both are religions…do atheists only object to Christian beliefs being in public school or all religious belief being in school…atheists seem not to like or want any religion forced on their kids…

I know for me it was 3rd grade.
